What does Dolt sound like?

Dolt sits best in the alt/indie scene but on more the pop side…its complicated. Specifically we sound like if you took a drummer that grew up on classic rock and alt-pop mixed with a guitarist who cut his teeth on the blues before diving into jazz, toss in a keyboardist that is classically trained, and sprinkle in a bassist that bloomed after playing lego rockband.

The album is a spritely, bright guitar pop project made in the mold of jangly bands like the Backseat Lovers. The first thing to stand out to me here was how tight the band was, missing no opportunities to add creative flourishes and fills throughout the 9 songs. The album reads as guitar forward, but the lead singer’s strong tenor voice shines through, bringing a bevy of both quality and energy. Everything in this project feels like it was made in a lab to be played in sweaty basement shows and this feel good debut holds a lot of promise for the future of Dolt.
